VATS will definitely not save your ass when you've got 8 pissed off super mutants and a bunch of mercs turning their attention to you.
That being said, the Fat Man portable Nuke Launcher will definitely give those mutants something to think about.

Fat Man's totally a bitch to keep repaired, though. Merchants and whatnot can keep it at about 50%, but you actually need another Fat Man to keep yours up and running better than that.
Also: Have you found the Fat Man that launches 7 mini-nukes at a time? I haven't bothered, but once I play through with a Big Guns character, that thing's going to be my baby.
And since I'm one of those people who carries around too many weapons anyway, it's really too heavy to bother with.
I wish Bethesda hadn't made ammo and chems weightless, though. Don't get me wrong, it's ridiculous to make a shotgun shell weigh the same thing that, say, a can of pork and beans, or even other ammo (looking at you, Urban Dead) weighs. And that goes for the chems, too. So I guess I understand why they didn't implement it, because I'm hoarding the shit out of ammo.

I wish I had this game. I bought it with my XBOX 360 Bundle pack and neither Fable 2 nor Fallout 3 have arrived GRrrr.... I have C&C3and Halo 3 to hold me over. However, I did download some of the viral Fallout 3 videos. the Fatboy one is pretty good

One word for this game, you ready for it ? EPIC! I've played it a bit so far, and I must not have gotten into it yet... In all brutal honesty, it feels like a game for adults that has been dumbed down to the level a 12 year old can understand, all while keeping the majority of the adult content. At least it isn't as bad as Bioshock...... ... ...

Been playing it for about 40 hours now and I still have barely uncovered the map. 40 odd locations out of 100. I noticed the other day that I had unwittingly given myself almost 100 skill points in the Big Gun skills. Take note that I haven't touched my Big Gun stock pile yet So many mini nukes and 5mm rounds, enough to take down a small army of Super mutants.

Hehe, 60 hours for me! And I <3 My Lincoln's Repeater, to bad it uses .44 Magnum Rounds. I must say that Big Guns is a pretty useless skill, I haven't even touched it and my Mini Nukes still do 1000 Damage, I don't really worry about any of the other guns. Just my repeater for long range, and my Chinese AR for short range

Actually, I've gotten the 100 places discovered thing, yet there are still many, many places I haven't discovered. If I had to take a guess, I'd say 150-175. Hurray! Yeah, I made a guy for Big Guns to see if it ever becomes useful. The minigun becomes semi-godly with high Big Guns. But I'd still rather use explosives. This game is amazing.

Terrible Shotgun was here, Chinese AR is a loser! Hunting Rifle > Shotgun The Terrible Shotgun (unique combat shotgun) shreds through every enemy like they're made of jello. That, used in tandem with Linoln's Repeater, makes for the ultimate Small Guns character, IMO. But, yeah, the Hunting Rifle is awesome. The Sniper Rifle isn't bad, either, but Lincoln's Repeater is the best long-range small gun in the game, and the Terrible Shotgun is the best close-range gun, period. Course, making a Kenshiro (that's the guy from Fist of the North Star, for those of you who don't know), and just blowing up people with your fists is also a fun time.

I saw a video of a Chuck Norris character. He actually punched through people. Like... ripped off arms/legs WITH A PUNCH.
Chuck Norris didn't need the tunnely-cave things. The nuclear holocaust was just a mild inconvenience to him.

I prefer the Daemonhammer.... Haven't played that since the new rule book came out... I'm still waiting for DoW II to come out; I hope it isn't a disappointment. Anyway, I was looking at some mods on fallout3nexus a few days ago, and found that people had made some Gray Knights pole-arm, and a not-yet-working suit of Space Marine armour....

My warranty with ASUS is insanely comprehensive. And in case you didn't hear: the 360 version was leaked a couple days ago. I damn near cried. Made me punch a wall... at least I didn't break my hand like SOME people Hey man, I was punching a solid steel checkout surface. That stuff is built to take tins and bottles striking its surface without marking. The side of my hand had no chance

Anyway experiencing lags on the PC version ? Like running fine for a minute, the next it lags so much, its nearly unplayable. I haven't seen that with mine, but then again I haven't played it too much (My savegame is maybe an hour into the game and is extremely crash-happy -- I can't do much of anything off it without it crashing) Anyway, what are your PC's specs -- CPU, RAM, GPU, and GFX RAM?

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7300 @ 2.66GHz 2.0 GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT (GeForce 9500 GT) That *should* run it just fine.... I'm here with my: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 920 @ ? (I'm not entirely sure, it seems to have three cores at x21 multi and one at x22 when it should only be at x20 -- everything else should currently be at stock.) 6 GB RAM -- currently running at ~ 1060 MHz, although I plan to OC my processor to 160 x20 (from 133 x20) which should yield 1600 MHz @ 2:10 multi for RAM.... EVGA 8800 GTS 640 MB....

Yeah it does, but I experience slowdown, which is kinda irritating, especially when you're in an awesome firefight with a lot of supermutants.
