I didn't see one of these yet.
Twenty-eight days to go. I preordered mine in June.

Preorders are a sham man.
It's just they're way of trying to maximize their profits. They usually don't serve you any good.

Over here in Australia, most shops give you additional merchandise if you pre-order. Plus it assures you have a copy in the event of a sell out.

Well, my money's definitely not worth as much now as it was four months ago, and for all I know, the collector's edition price is going nowhere but up.
And I'm not going to have to deal with assholes in stores. Mine will show up in a nice package.

Don't bank on it. I've read about plenty of EB Games that over-pre-sell their stuff, and you get the ol' shaft-eroo until they get another shipment. Anyway, I was really fighting with the idea of ordering that limited edition kit with the clock and whatnot, but then I thought "What the hell am I going to do with all that crap?" and went against it. Besides, I'm up to my ears in games now. I haven't even played all the games I bought last Xmas yet.

A shame. Around here, all preordering a game means is that the retailer gets (at least some of) your money sooner. And, as El said GameStop (Formerly EB, which up until a few months before the buyout was headquartered 10 miles from my house) pre orders do not always guarantee that you will actually get the product on launch day -- I have a friend who pre ordered the Xbox 360 almost as soon as they started taking orders, and he didn't get his until a few months after launch.

I preordered from Amazon. Not EB or GameStop.

I preordered from Amazon. Not EB or GameStop. I did not mean to give that impression; I was simply stating what it is like pre ordering from brick & mortar stores near where I live. Sorry for the confusion.

Anyway, I was really fighting with the idea of ordering that limited edition kit with the clock and whatnot, but then I thought "What the hell am I going to do with all that crap? I almost went with the package that came with the PipBoy, but decided to save myself $60 for a clock I probably wouldn't use, despite its awesomeness.

Indeed. It's a sweet set, but ultimately just extra crap to clutter up the house. Made all the worse because it would be impossible to say "Yeah, get rid of that." Better not to get it all in the first place and just enjoy the game.

Fuck all of you and your expendable income. I'm on an 8-year-old computer with 64 gigs of memory. Do want Fallout 3.

Yeah. Hard drive. Thought I said that... With 64 gigs of RAM, you would be able to run the Universe. Three times. But still not Crysis.

I was gonna get an alienware, but monthly contract = bad. Read their fine text, they charge you like 1.5x what it would normally cost... The one i wanted was 1.2k, but after researching all the crap that you buy to come with it, it came out to over $2000! And so I said "fuck that, I'll buy one at Target."

I checked out Alienware. I built one on their site with the same specs and hardware as mine, and it was something like $600 more.
newegg.com FTW!
Also, it's an ASUS.

He doesn't understand eggs. It's terrible around breakfast time.
Speaking of Fallout 3, the line for the 360 version at TGS was over 2 hours, so I didn't get on it, sadly. The line at Sony's booth was the same, so I went and played Killzone 2 instead. But anyway, now that you've all mentioned it, I think I might make myself sad and try to run Crysis on my rig...

The announced that the game went gold, and the system requirements. I destroy the system requirements. ;D Not to be a spoilsport, but that isn't difficult. My (almost) four year old desktop system (based on intel's 925 chipset; The first socket 775 platform) meets or exceeds every "minimum" requirement, except for the video card; All three have x700's, and I can't swap it out, because I don't technically own any of the three identical systems (somewhat long story), but I have had a 640 MB EVGA 8800 GTS since February of this year... Also, my next laptop will probably be a Dell XPS series. "Why?" you might ask? Answer: I don't know about all of you, but I'm not exactly gentle with my laptop(s) -- I don't *abuse* them, but I'm not what I'd call "gentle." With that in mind, Dell is the only computer company I know of that will sell me the warranty support I require. I've called up previously at quarter to one in the morning and had parts (new motherboard and ram) show up at my door within 36 hours. Time spent on the phone? Under 20 minutes. Parts installation? Did it myself.

My warranty with ASUS is insanely comprehensive.
And in case you didn't hear: the 360 version was leaked a couple days ago. I damn near cried.

My warranty with ASUS is insanely comprehensive. Does it cover accidental damage? I once had an LCD destroyed by a rouge air-soft pellet. It was covered.

Yeah, pretty much everything, for the next two years.
And if I can show a part to be defective (breaks more than once {might be twice, I'll have to read through that}), they flat-out buy me a new machine.

How are repairs handled?
Do you have to ship it to a repair depot, or do they just send you parts?
