This thread is long overdue, but I figured it is time to introduce you to Discord which will be replacing the beloved IRC. The reasons for this switch are numerous, but mostly it come down to versatility and simplicity. Discord combines the best features of IRC and the features of modern voice chat programs such as Teamspeak and Skype.
You can access the CDF Discord server a few different ways via a browser, PC/Linux/Mac desktop client, or on a phone/tablet with the Discord app for Android and iOS.
You do not have to register an account on Discord, but I highly suggest you do because it will sync the servers you are apart of if you decide to use the apps and client.
To open the server in your browser you can go to discord.gg/3Z72HtJ
If you join the server on the browser then register an account it will add the server to your list so that when you login on the Discord app for phones or the desktop clients it will already be there without having to come back here and do the whole thing over.
Here is a screenshot of Discord with the client for PC:
Discord is separated in two sections, Text and Voice. Text channels have the "#" symbol next to them and are always at the top with the Voice channels below. You do not have to be in a voice channel to use text channels. They are completely independent from each other. You do not join a voice channel by default so you will have to click the channel to join. You can tell if you are in a voice channel by either seeing your name under one or the "Voice Connected" status at the bottom.
Client Links:
Windows
Mac/OSX
Android
iOS/iPhone/iPad
I'll fill this in more in the future, but if the old timers like Enoch and Sl4rt figured out then so can you!
